THE PHILADELPHIA

REPUBLICAN PARTY

PHILLY GOP SUCCESSFULLY COLLECTS SIGNATURES FOR FULL SLATE OF CITYWIDE CANDIDATES

Chooses Not To File For Both City Commissioner Spots To Focus on Defeating Radical WFP

March 9, 2023

(PHILADELPHIA) Vince Fenerty, Chair of the Philly GOP, today released the following statement regarding the Republican Party successfully collecting nomination petition signatures for the upcoming 2023 elections.

“For the first time in more than a decade, the Philly GOP collected enough nomination petition signatures to place a candidate on the ballot for every citywide office. This is a clear sign that the people of Philadelphia are fed up with the failed policies of the Democratic machine and the rising crime, failing schools, out-of-control inflation, and economic hardship they are causing.

“We chose, however, not to file nomination petitions for both candidate positions in the City Commissioner race to best focus on defeating whatever candidate the radical Working Families Party may put forth this fall and ensuring safe, secure, and fair elections in our city. We thank Bill Heeney for putting in the work to get more than the required number of signatures (over 1,600) and then putting citizens first by stepping aside to help us defeat Philadelphia’s most out-of-the-mainstream political group.”

“We also want to thank the Ward Leaders, committeepeople, and citizens who stepped forward to take the time to collect these signatures. The future is bright for the Philly GOP as we work to restore safety, economic security, and educational opportunity to every Philadelphian.”
