Philly GOP Lauds Judge Pat Dugan Decision to Face Krasner In November
“Philadelphians will finally have a real choice between someone committed to protecting our citizens and our city versus a proven advocate for the very criminals he is supposed to prosecute.”
(Philadelphia) The Philadelphia Republican City Committee today released the following statement in response to Judge Pat Dugan’s decision to challenge sitting District Attorney Larry Krasner in the November General Election. Dugan, a registered Democrat, earned a position on the November ballot through an unprecedented grassroots movement that garnered more than 6,400 write-in votes.
“Pat Dugan has a proven record of standing up for the citizens of Philadelphia and providing fair and honest justice for nearly two decades as a Municipal Court Judge. His decision to run for District Attorney is an extension of his lifetime of service - as an Army veteran, community volunteer, and Judge - to our city,” said Vince Fenerty, Chairman of the Philly GOP.
“Philadelphians will finally have a real choice between someone committed to protecting our citizens and our city versus Larry Krasner who is a proven advocate for the very criminals he is supposed to prosecute,” Fenerty continued.
State Representative Martina White, who has worked tirelessly to promote public safety across the city, reacted to Dugan’s decision by saying, “Judge Dugan’s commonsense plan to help make our city safer, deliver fair justice, and rebuild the community’s trust in our justice system earned the support of tens of thousands of Democrats and Republicans in the Primary Election. His no-nonsense, no-politics approach to public safety will resonate even more strongly in the November election.”
State Senator Joe Picozzi also supported Judge Dugan’s decision, stating “Firing Larry Krasner has always been a top priority for me and for Northeast Philadelphia. Pat Dugan is a proven leader who will put victims before politics, enforce the law fairly, and make our streets safe again. He has my full support, and I’ll stand shoulder to shoulder with him to take back our city.”
Since the Primary Election, Larry Krasner has tried to paint Judge Dugan as an extreme Republican or tie him to President Trump but the facts show that isn’t true. Judge Dugan is a registered Democrat who won the support of both Democrats and Republicans in the Primary Election for a simple reason: they know he will put the safety of Philadelphians first - before any radical ideological or partisan agenda. That is something Larry Krasner can never say because it’s all he has done during his tenure.
“Democrat, Republican and Independent voters in places like Pittsburgh and Baltimore have joined together to reject radical, soft-on-crime prosecutors like Larry Krasner and the result has been lower crime and more safety. Philadelphia can and will do the same this November by supporting the commonsense, bipartisan approach to public safety and justice that Judge Dugan will bring to the table as District Attorney,” concluded Fenerty.
